Support Your System

Do you ever have those days when you look down at your life from the view point of the cloud floating above your existence? I do it every once in a while. It’s my great reminder of who’s walking with me through my life. What I refer to as my Support System! I believe behind every successful person you will find a strong Support System. The people you can count on to help you reach your full potential-friends, family members, mentors, whoever they may be for each of us.

My Support System consists of many. I have those who are with me always, those who are supporting me from a distance and the ones who support me in spirit. I couldn’t begin to list them all but I’ll give you an idea of what I’m talking about.

Let’s start with my spiritual Support System. There is God, without him, nothing in my life would hold meaning. There is my Mother, watching over me from heaven. Constantly cheering me on, reminding me that no matter how defeated I feel at times, I should never give up on my dreams.

There are those who support me from a distance. There is my daughter, who lives six hours away. She supports me in so many ways I couldn’t list them all. I guess the best way to describe her would be to say she is My Biggest Fan. There is my cousin, who I reach out to by phone constantly. She helps me get through the day to day trials of being a wife and mother. A huge part of my Support System are my Bad Girlz. They support me with knowledge, love, and are always willing to reach out a hand and help me with my writing. I would be absolutely lost without them.

Then there is the one who is with me always, my husband. His support is unlimited. He’s the one that kicks me in the butt when he notices my spirits dropping. He’ll fuss at me if he hasn’t seen me on my computer for a while. He works hard and makes sacrifices, so I can stay home and pursue my writing career. Let me give you a brief description of my husband. He is your typical all American manly man. He can pull a motor out of a car-rebuild it, toss it back in without breaking a sweat. He can build elevators, paint cars, make furniture, and create beautiful water fall landscapes for our yard. He can toss a football with our son, play with the dog, while at the same time wink at me and mouth the words I love you. And even though he’s hitting a monumental birthday this year, he rocks it like he’s still in his twenties.

And just when I think I’ve got my all-around-guy figured out, he’ll do something to surprise me. I was trying to decide what topic to blog about this week, when he said, “I thought your last blog on overused words was pretty good.” My mouth fell open and I blurted, “You read my blog?” He said, “Yeah, at work. I always read your blog.” Then my mind visualized this event taking place. Him taking a few minutes out of his crazy, dangerous, physically draining job, to sit in his truck and type into his phone with grease-stained fingers, BadGirlzWrite.com, and then proceed to read my blog on a subject he has nothing in common with.

I was flattered. You could say I was like the Grinch, ‘My heart grew three sizes, that day.’ He was supporting me when I didn’t even know it. My Support System! We all need them to succeed.

When you look down from your cloud of life, who do you see walking with you? Who is your Support System? I’d love to hear about them.

Remember to Dream Big!
